The oscars 2008 aftermath from my point of view
So the oscars are over... As you know I published a list of the winners for those of you looking on my website.
I really want to see Juno when it comes out on DVD as I did not make it into the cinema. I need to check what the release dates are for Juno. Did you hear that Diablo Cody wants to get a tattoo of the face of the film's star Ellen Page on her arm? Funny how everyone is suddenly bringing up that Diablo Cody used to be a stripper!
What other interesting news are there? Sales for the film about Edith Piaf's life, "La Vie en Rose" has had sales increase by 500(!)%. Personally I am not surprised, I do not think there was a lot of marketing for it before it won 2 Oscars. What better marketing can you wish for? I have to admit I am part of those 500%
I was not surprised that Sweeney Todd only got one Oscar. Although I am a huge fan of both Johnny Depp and Tim Burton and although I thought the film was pretty good, I thought it was not terribly inspiring. Sleepy Hollow had much more of an impact on me when I first saw it.
I also want to watch the Austrian Holocaust-era drama The Counterfeiters won the Oscar for best foreign language film.
So I guess the gist of this post is that there will be a few more interesting reviews when I have watched all these films! ;)
