It was highly successful when it was released and grosses approximately £ 330 million worldwide, becoming the fourth highest grossing film of 2003. The film received five nominations for the Acedemy Awards, including Best Sound, Best Sound Editing, Best Makeup, Best Visual Effects and Best Actor (Johnny Depp). The story follows the character of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), a cheeky pirate, and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), an ambitious blacksmith, on their search for Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Elizabeth, who is the governor's daughter, is in possession of a special golden medallion. She is kidnapped by the feared crew of the "Black Pearl". It later turnes out that the crew of the ship is cursed and that they are doomed for eternity to neither live, nor die. This curse can only be broken through the return of the golden medallion and the spilling of blood. Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner have made it their mission to persue "The Black Pearl", even though it turnes out that both characters are motivated by different goals. This exiting Pirate's story is a definate must-see! Surprising twist, dangerous sword fights, love and the ever funny character "Captain Jack Sparrow", contribute to this film's tremendous success.

I think this film is great. I love watching any time, any day, ... all the time ... and it still makes me laugh!
